From Town & Country

A lot of motivational bon mots fell a bit flat this year: "It's going to get better." (Will it?) or "It could be worse" (Clearly.) But one, "I think I can," still holds (Yes!).

"Coincidentally, we started working on the "I Think I Can" medallion before the pandemic, everything, started," says jewelry designer Monica Rich Kosann. "I had read the The Little Engine That Could to my children when they were young and it sort of stayed in our lives ever since, no matter if they were going on a big date, or applying to college, or starting a job, it was always 'I think I can.'" Kosann, who was originally a photographer, founded her eponymous company based on her love of the stories jewelry can tell, whether its a subtle locket or a delicate pendant. The "I Think I Can" medallion comes in 18 karat gold with a diamond or in sterling silver with with a white sapphire and is meant to be hung on a chain as a simple necklace that's perfect for layering.

The necklace seemed charmed (excuse the pun) from the start. Shortly after, Kosann came across an interview with Dolly Parton in which the iconic singer said that she had always thought of herself as "the little engine that could." Furthermore, Parton's nonprofit Imagination Library, which mails books to underserved children to promote reading, sent The Little Engine That Could to every child. Through the month of March Kosann is donating 15 percent of each medallion sale to Parton's nonprofit.
