With prom season in full swing, students are pulling out all the stops to come up with creative asks to set their promposals apart from others.
Alabama high school students Kelli Sandras and Mclean Moore received particularly interesting invitations to prom this year from their boyfriends — both got spray tans, first taping the word “prom” across their chests so the word would appear against the new color.
Sandras posted an image with her boyfriend, Jack Horton, after he surprised her.
Sandras was incredibly surprised by the promposal — and thought it was hilarious.
“Someone had almost ruined it for me and told me the boys were getting spray tans, but it was covered up by saying they went to get lunch,” she tells Yahoo Beauty. “When they walked in, everyone looked at me. I said something along the lines of, ‘Oh my gosh, he actually got a spray tan’ — and then they took off their shirts. I started laughing so hard I couldn’t say yes!”
She also shared that Horton was intrigued by the spray-tanning process. “Jack said the process of getting a spray tan was a lot more interesting than he thought it would be — that the machine was weird and he wasn’t expecting it. He also said that the duct tape hurt!” she says.
Her classmate, Mclean Moore, posted a similar shot with her date, Harrison Howell, captioning the image, “Can I use your palm beach tan account now #PROM.”
Sandras says that her classmates at Tuscaloosa Academy loved the boys’ promposals.
“My friends thought it was so funny because the spray tan didn’t come off for a couple of days,” she says. “I was honestly shocked their promposal received so much attention!”
