If there is one thing 2021 has blessed us with—a single, solitary thing—it’s paparazzi pictures of the Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That…. Since the reboot news hit, fans have been dying for any morsels of plot intel. HBO Max has kept its lips reeeal sealed. But! Paparazzi exist, and the pictures they’ve captured of the actors filming the show have given us plenty to talk about. Here’s my question though: What if the pictures are a lie?

It is my personal and professional theory that the creators of the SATC reboot are intentionally staging certain shots in very public places to throw fans off the spoiler scent. I know that sounds like it would be a waste of money and everyone’s time, but this reboot is one of the most highly anticipated TV events of the year! And people care...a lot. Like, a lot. So wouldn’t it benefit them to make sure people didn’t figure out any spoilers?

I’m sure you’re thinking, That sounds...absurd. But it wouldn’t be the first time a show has done this. Game of Thrones notoriously filmed fake scenes when they knew paparazzi would be present. And Sex and the City (the OG show) filmed multiple endings/versions of how the Carrie in Paris thing could have gone down. So it’s not *totally* out of the realm of possibility that HBO Max could be faking us out. Here are the photos that, in my opinion, feel the fakest.

Natasha being present in any capacity.

These are the pictures that started me down this conspiracy theory rabbit hole. In July 2021, photos emerged of Bridget Moynahan on the set of And Just Like That…. It seemed highly unlikely to me that Big’s ex-wife Natasha would be in the show in any real capacity, especially considering, in SATC time, it’s been roughly 20 years since they got divorced.

It got even weirder when pictures emerged of Natasha and Carrie having...lunch? How many people have buddy-buddy lunches with their current husband’s ex-wife? I have so many questions.

So what is the truth, Carrie? Are you and Natasha friends now?! Doesn’t seem possible.

Carrie and...a new love interest?

Here’s what else is confusing about the photos that have emerged from this set. Not only are there tons of photos of Carrie with Big, but there are a lot of her with another man too, and it looks like they are dating. The actor is Jon Tenney, and he’s in a lot of different setups. Plus, they kiss!!!

It seems nearly impossible that Carrie would, in one miniseries, have two separate love interests. Especially when one of them is her husband. Like, so much would have to happen for her to be done with Big and be able to move on with someone else to this extent. (Apropos of nothing, doesn’t this guy look like an older version of the guy who played Berger back in the day?)

It feels like either the Big pictures are fake or the pictures of this unnamed guy are fake. We can’t have both.

Carrie and Big are in NYC...and in Paris??? In the same outfits? Ce n'est pas vrai!

Here’s another set of pap pics I’ve been puzzling over. Recently, Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth were spotted filming a carriage ride through Central Park in New York City. They were, suspiciously, wearing the exact same outfits they were wearing when people spotted them filming scenes in Paris earlier this fall.

Here’s the New York version:

And you can find the Paris pictures here. I really don’t know what to make of them wearing the exact same thing in two different cities, but it feels fishy to me. That’s all I’ll say.

No real thoughts here, just wanted to laugh at Carrie holding a paintbrush. Come on, guys, there’s absolutely no way that’s real.

If you want to see if these fake-out theories hold up, catch the first two episodes of And Just Like That… on HBO Max starting this Thursday, December 9.
