Then and now: Spice Girls, friendship never ends

The Spice Girls became a global phenomenon with one simple motto: Girl power! Posh, Baby, Scary, Sporty and Ginger Spice brought their own sense of style and personalities, becoming the most successful British band since the Beatles. Talk about success! Melanie Brown (Scary), Victoria Beckham (Posh), Geri Halliwell Horner (Ginger), Emma Bunton (Baby) and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty) formed the fierce five back in 1994. They released their first album, “Spice,” in 1996, and soon everyone was singing along to “Wannabe.” The album went on to make history, becoming the bestselling album by a female group. Their girl-power anthems ruled the late ’90s, culminating in the 1997 release of their own movie, “Spice World.” The fandom has been strong for more than two decades — and so has their friendship. Now they’re going back on the road, minus Posh, for a summer tour kicking off in May.
