Everyone knows the Golden Rule: Treat others how you would want to be treated.
Clearly, New Yorkers didn’t get the message.
According to a survey conducted by Yahoo Travel, 31 percent of people believe that New York City is the unfriendliest city in the world. The survey group consisted of 2,005 men and women, all from the United States.

New York City has long had a reputation for being a rude place, with overzealous fans (Go Yankees!) and annoyed locals darting in and out of crowds of tourists. But it’s not just the East Coast getting a bad rap: 15 percent of respondents pointed to Los Angeles as the second-unfriendliest city in the world. Guess that easygoing lifestyle isn’t welcoming to everyone.

For the third-unfriendliest city, 14 percent of respondents named Paris, France. Considering the sometimes strained relationship between France and the United States, this one isn’t particularly shocking.
The survey also revealed some surprising findings about gender and age.

While only 3 percent of people considered Rome unfriendly, most of those who replied in the negative were men.
And more millennials considered Hong Kong, China, and Sydney, Australia, to be rude compared with respondents 35 and older.
