SINGAPORE – After a memorable showing by Miss Universe Singapore 2020, Bernadette Belle Ong, at the recently-concluded international competition held in Florida, the Miss Universe Singapore 2021 edition returns to look for a new winner to take over the coveted crown.
This year, the competition goes digital by leveraging visual media and technology with a hybrid finals event. The Singapore finals are targeted to be held in September 2021.
In the lead up to the Singapore finals, the competition aims to showcase the city state’s hidden gems, unveil culture, and partner with local Singaporean artists in the arts and fashion spheres through a series of fashion films that will premiere across digital platforms.
A new management team has been formed, led by Jonas Antonio Gaffud, the recently appointed Creative Consultant for the Miss Universe Philippines and Miss Universe Singapore brand, by the New York-based organisation Miss Universe. Joining Mr Gaffud is Valerie Lim, former Miss Universe Singapore 2011, the New National Director as well as Creative Fashion Director Daniel Boey.
"As Miss Universe Singapore ups its ante each year and sees more Singaporean women pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a modern empowered woman, I see this platform as a great opportunity to also bring to the forefront of inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and sustainability issues. I would also like to put the spotlight back on our local designers and artists and work with them to bring Singaporean creations onto the international stage," shared Mr Boey.
