The Results Are in: the Most Searched Hotels, Airlines, and Destinations of 2014

How do Yahoo users travel? The numbers suggest they’re most likely to fly a Southwest Airlines plane to Las Vegas, and stay in a Marriott-affiliated hotel like the Cosmopolitan once they get there.

Vegas was the most searched destination on Yahoo in the year-in-review statistics released today. It’s a repeat performance for Sin City, and in fact the top three cities are in the same order as last year: Myrtle Beach, S.C., ranked second, and New Orleans was third.

Leisure destinations dominated the top 10, and once again, New York and Chicago aren’t among them. The only new addition to this year’s list was the beach town of Ocean City, Md., which ranked sixth.

Here are the top 10 most searched travel spots:

2. Myrtle Beach, S.C.
3. New Orleans, La.
4. Atlantic City, N.J.
5. Key West, Fla.
6. Ocean City, Md.
7. Santa Barbara, CA
8. San Diego, CA
9. Virginia Beach, VA
10. San Francisco, CA

Budget-travel favorite Southwest was the most searched airline in 2014, with the legacy carriers right behind it. Here’s the top 10:

1. Southwest Airlines
2. United Airlines
3. Delta Airlines
4. American Airlines
5. US Airways
6. Spirit Airlines
7. Alaska Airlines
8. Allegiant Air
9. Frontier Airlines
10. Hawaiian Airlines

As for where people want to stay, Marriott was the most searched hotel. Here’s the top 10:

10. Sandals Resorts
