The Goldbergs dedicated Wednesday’s episode to beloved actor George Segal who passed away in March from complications following heart surgery. After eight seasons on the show, it was Segal’s final appearance as the character Albert “Pops” Solomon. The episode ended with a montage of touching moments from over the years.

Segal’s co-stars, like Wendi McLendon-Covey, also paid tribute to the Oscar-nominated actor on Twitter. “We’ll love you forever,” tweeted McLendon-Covey. “See you in our dreams.”

There was also mourning and a massive outpouring of appreciation from fans on social media, as the emotional tribute touched everyone.

Soon after the 87-year-old actor's death in March, the show’s creators issued the following statement:

“On behalf of everyone at The Goldbergs we are devastated at the loss of our dear friend, George,” the show’s cast and crew said. “He was kind, sweet, beyond talented and funny. George was the true epitome of class and he touched all of our lives so deeply. It was an honor and a privilege to have him as a colleague and friend all of these years. It is no surprise to any of us that knew him so well that he is a true national treasure. He will be missed by all. POPS, we will miss your banjo playing and your infectious laugh. Rest in peace.”

The Goldbergs airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC.
