Elle and Dakota Fanning are sisters who slay together — even when they’re not together. Need proof? Just look at the ultra-feminine frocks they wore to their respective appearances Thursday night.

For the premiere of her new movie, 20th Century Women, at the Mill Valley Film Festival in San Rafael, Calif., Elle stepped out in a sophisticated ivory pleated Prada festooned with pink gems. The 18-year-old paired the dress with pink satin Mary Jane-style pumps, accessorizing with Tiffany & Co. bling.

In an Instagram post, Elle said she was having “an Elle Woods moment,” appropriate since the Legally Blonde character loves anything pink. This look is a far cry from her barefoot airport appearance earlier this week, but Elle is a versatile gal who can pull just about anything off.

She also fastened her hair back into a stunning, sleek bun.

Farther down the coast, Elle’s older sister, Dakota, was spotted in a slightly sexier ensemble. Dakota wore an orange David Koma dress with a high slit and geometric waistline cutouts to the premiere of her new flick, American Pastoral, in Los Angeles. The starlet accessorized her look with simple Anita Ko jewelry, silver strappy Tamara Mellon heels, and casual beach waves.

Dakota and Elle share the same Hollywood stylist, Samantha McMillen, who has dressed a number of high-profile celebrities, including Carey Mulligan, Amber Heard, Taylor Lautner, and Dianna Agron.

McMillen has been working with the Fanning sisters since 2012. “They’re so different. They’re sisters, but I just look at them as different clients,” she told Teen Vogue. “There are similarities in the attention to detail and the way that they plan for things. They both really love fashion and really go for it, which is really nice. I just have a lot of fun working with them.”

And by the looks of Thursday night’s flawless getups, the Fanning sisters must have fun working with McMillen too.
