Yahoo Beauty would like to introduce you to “The New-New,” a column by Beauty Director Dana Oliver on the newest products, tools, and treatments that she’d happily spend her hard-earned money on.

I’ve been pretty fortunate to escape acne in my teenage years. Now, as an adult, my breakouts typically pop up once a month (or whenever I’ve gone HAM on drinking ginger ale and getting less sleep than I need). But I will admit that my complexion took an L with so much stress eating in the weeks leading up to and shortly after the 2016 presidential election. My skin was drier and duller, and what appeared to be a bug bite (but was probably a deep pimple) had formed on my right cheek.

Not one to mask my face with foundation, I reached for the Erno Laszlo Exfoliate & Detox Hydrogel Mask in hopes that it would get my skin back to being brighter and blemish-free.

Tucked inside the thin gray and white package was a sheet mask broken into two separate pieces, one for the top half of the face and the other for the mouth area. I really appreciate this design, as it made it super-easy to fit onto my not-so-round face. And I loathe that weird gap that most sheet masks create around the nose and upper lip. It makes it difficult to breathe!

Aside from skin-detoxing charcoal powder, this jelly-like sheet mask is loaded with an interesting blend of lime, lemon, apple, orange, grape, and kiwi extracts. The brand claims that this fruity combo is the key to “imparting a radiant glow.” Were they right? My face and I can happily say yes!

I applied the Exfoliate & Detox Hydrogel after washing my face with the brand’s new Detoxifying Cleansing Oil and bar soap set. While that certainly did the job of removing dirt and leftover makeup, I still had that pesky bug-bite-deep-pimple thing going on that needed to be addressed.

After 20 minutes of wear, the sheet mask’s serum had completely seeped into my skin. There was very little left for me to press into my pores. No complaints here! My face felt incredibly supple and looked dewy, but not in a greasy way. Usually I still have to deal with excessive dryness around my brows, but I had no worries thanks to the moisture lockdown. And the gunk that was trapped underneath my pores along my cheek finally came to the surface. Hallelujah!

I strongly suggest you spend some of your holiday gift-card money on a few of these sheet masks.

Erno Laszlo Exfoliate & Detox Hydrogel Mask ($16 for a single mask) is now available at ernolaszlo.com.
