The best new Premier League players

Let’s take a look at the brand-new Premier League players who are having the most impact. First up, it’s a player who has taken us all by surprise: joint league top goalscorer Teemu Pukki!

Incredibly, the Norwich forward has five goals in three games, which is more goals than any Huddersfield player managed last season. The Finn was the Championship top scorer last season, but it’s very rare that a quality Championship striker translates well to the Premier League, and even rarer when that striker is 29 with a few failures behind him already!

Next up, the American: Christian Pulisic! Chelsea’s new prospect earned an assist at Norwich over the weekend, he was sharp in the UEFA Super Cup and he’s looking better and better with every game. Chelsea look like a better team with him in it.

And the same can be said for Pulisic’s teammate Mason Mount. The English midfielder has been with the Blues since he was six and Frank Lampard has been vindicated in his decision to give him a chance this season, after working with him at Derby last year.

Across London at Arsenal, Nicholas Pepe is starting to show promise, but Prem new boy Dani Ceballos is becoming the new Santi Cazorla. The Spaniard might represent the best loan deal in the league this season. And let’s also give a shout out to Aston Villa, who took a risk in bringing in a raft of new talent this summer—and a lot of it has paid off.

Douglas Luiz scored a beauty at the weekend—the Brazilian was on the books at Man City but couldn’t get a work permit last season. Pep Guardiola is a huge fan and Man City’s loss is Villa’s gain. And John McGinn isn't a new Villa signing, but he already has a goal and an assist in his maiden EPL campaign. He’s a player who Sir Alex Ferguson told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sign at Man Utd, and you can see why.
