Thanks to Trump, James Buchanan No Longer Ranks as Worst US President in Scholarly Survey

Congratulations, President Donald Trump! You have officially become the best at being bad. The sitting commander in chief now outranks James Buchanan as the worst president in the history of the United States of America.

According to a new survey conducted by the New York Times, which included the opinions of 170 members of the American Political Science Association’s Presidents and Executive Politics, Trump is at the bottom of the POTUS barrel — behind the guy who was holding the country’s reins as we headed into the Civil War.

The former “Apprentice” host is also lower on the list than William Henry Harrison, who was the president for all of 32 days in 1841 — the shortest term ever served by a U.S. president. He died of pneumonia on his last day in office.

On the other end of the spectrum, Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama has jumped to No. 8 on the list since the Times’ 2014 survey, behind the likes of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, both Roosevelts, Thomas Jefferson, Harry S. Truman and Dwight Eisenhower.
