An assisted living center in Texas is determined to make one special resident’s birthday wish come true.

Approaching his 100th birthday, James South isn’t asking for much—just a little help celebrating the impressive milestone. The WWII veteran is hoping to get 100 birthday cards.

Brookdale Senior Living in Watauga shared a photo of a smiling South holding a sign with his request on Facebook on Friday.

"Hello! My name is James South and I am a proud World War II Veteran! I will be turning 100 on October 7th, 2019 and I would like to receive 100 birthday cards," the handwritten sign reads.

That certainly seems doable, doesn’t it?

His son Jim South told CNN that his dad grew up in North Texas in a large family of sharecroppers. He joined the Army in 1940 and was deployed to Normandy. He was married to his wife Sophie for 55 years, until her death in 2001.

Jim said he has a three-day celebration planned for his dad's big birthday. The schedule includes playing golf, eating chicken fried steak and catfish at his favorite restaurants, and spending time with his family.

Former U.S. ambassador to Canada: USMCA deal is a rare 'win, win, win'

Marty: There hasn't been a "victory for American Workers" since globalization became the prevalent theme for manufacturing. The manufacturing sector in this nation is basically decimated and has been as such since the door to CHEAPER PRODUCTION ELSEWHERE (China, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, So Korea, etc) opened for the USA to exploit. Sadly the CHINESE have actually outplayed us and now we are basically at their mercy for ELECTRONIC devices as virtually everything we get is made there. My bottom line is that if EMPLOYERS here are FAIR & EQUITABLE employee expectations will be lessened, but since everyone tends to go the highest bidder on the EMPLOYEE side and many of our companies CONTRACT EVERYTHING out to avoid having to pay benefits...we're in trouble. It's unfortunate that COMPROMISE, COOPERATION & FAIRNESS are not words that are generally associated with the manufacturing sector.
