Texas provides positive update on Andrew Jones
The University of Texas revealed some good news on sophomore Andrew Jones’ battle with leukemia during ESPN’s “College Gameday” in Austin on Saturday.

Jones is currently receiving treatment at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where he’s been since Jan. 19. In the last two weeks, the school announced, Jones has been able to get out of bed and move around more — which UT says was a struggle at the time Jones was diagnosed in early January.
“We are very appreciative of the outpouring of love and support for Andrew and our family,” UT said in a statement. “We do ask that you continue to keep Andrew in your thoughts and prayers. We know there’s a long battle ahead, but together we will win this fight.”

The illness struck as Jones was making a case for a pro career following a strong freshman season with the Longhorns and a trip to the 2017 NBA combine. After struggling to stay on the court and play with energy early in the Big 12 season, Jones was diagnosed with cancer on Jan. 10.
The school has also been helping Jones raise money to cover the costs of his treatments. To date, the Andrew Jones and Family Support Fund has raised $158,509.
