Texas husband and wife with combined age of 211 named oldest living couple in the world

A Texas couple with a combined age of 211 has been named the oldest couple in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records.

John Henderson is 106 and his wife, Charlotte is 105. The couple, who were married in 1939, will soon celebrate their 80th wedding anniversary.

John and Charlotte met in a class at the University of Texas in 1934, KXAN reported. Charlotte was studying to be a teacher and John played football for the Longhorns.

John holds another record as the oldest living former UT football player. The couple have had a a tradition for the last 84 consecutive years of attending at least one UT football game per season.

The Hendersons even moved into the Longhorn Village, a senior living community associated with a University of Texas alumni group.

Both are reportedly happy and healthy. As for living such a long life, they attribute it to moderation and being cordial to each other, according to KXAN.
