Terry Crews Shares the Diet Secret That Helps Him Maintain His Ripped Pecs

Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews is known for his acting skills, humor, advocacy work...and extraordinary chest muscles. Let’s face it: Crews has some nice pecs. And, he isn’t afraid to show them off either; remember when he created a collegiate course titled “Pec Popping 101?” What a genius. In the latest edition of Eat Like, the former Men's Health cover guy tell us what he eats to maintain his glorious pecs.

Crews' first trick to popping pecs and a six-pack? Fasting. “When I wake up, the first thing I do is have a glass of water...and I put amino acid powder inside—I like to call it stardust,” he says. “I drink that all morning and afternoon. And, then I’m off to the races.” (He means his workout routine.)

He also drinks coffee—no sugar or cream, though. Only coconut oil, as it provides the “healthy fats” his body needs in a fasting cycle. Next, it’s time for some protein in the form of eggs and bacon, with a salad on the side. Sometimes, he likes to switch it up with a charcuterie board filled with salami, cheeses, bread, and of course, almonds (because they’re filled with those healthy fats).

Once 5 p.m. hits, it’s time for Crews' pick-me-up: a protein shake. Since he works in the morning during his fasting period, he needs that extra boost to prepare his body for dinner, especially since his go-to night meal is loaded with carbs.

“Usually between seven or eight, I’ll have a delicious meal, which is not ketogenic,” he says. “I’ll have my bread; I’ll have some pasta. [But], a great dinner for me would be bison ribeye, sweet potatoes, and broccoli.”

A self-proclaimed dessert guy, Crews can’t end his day without a slice of cheesecake or two. And similarly to his dinner meal, his dessert is also filled with fats, courtesy of the almond flour he uses. He says you can’t tell the difference.
