Tempers flare as Thunder and Trail Blazers engage in heated shoving match

Many expected the Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma Thunder to play an intense game Sunday, but maybe they underrated how explosive things would get. Near the end of the third quarter, both teams were involved in a heated shoving match.

The whole thing started after an over-the-back foul by Ed Davis. As Davis went up for it, he tossed Terrance Ferguson to the floor. Ferguson got up and pushed Davis, which led to the brouhaha.

Russell Westbrook got into the fracas, using his right arm to push Davis. Evan Turner then ran in from behind, shoving anyone in his path. He and Westbrook exchange some words before coaches and officials step in and break things up.

Once the officials sorted things out, Davis, Westbrook, Turner and Ferguson all received technical fouls.

Ferguson, however, won’t have to pay his fine. Despite being on opposite sides of the shoving match, Turner told him he would take care of it.

That battle may have resulted in a draw, but the Trail Blazers won the war. They defeated the Thunder by a score of 108-105. With the win, the Trail Blazers are ahead of the Thunder by two games for the third playoff spot in the West.
