Teen whose irises are different colors calls heterochromia his 'best feature'
A teenager is giving the internet a valuable lesson on self-acceptance.
Jay Davis has a rare eye condition called heterochromia, which makes the colors of his irises different. Instead of being self-conscious about it, the 14-year-old shared in a recent tweet that he considers it to be one of the best things about his appearance.
On Twitter, Jay shared a close-up photo of his caramel-and-green eyes with the caption, “I might have big lips, and also a big nose but Heterochromia is my best feature.” His post has received overwhelming support and praise from nearly 30,000 people.

“At the end of the day, you have been given heterochromia for a reason. You can’t get rid of it,” he tells Yahoo Lifestyle of the genetic condition. “Never hate yourself.”
Jay, who lives in England, says he was completely shocked his post received so much attention. In response, though, he’s now using his platform to encourage others to love themselves no matter what.
“You’ve been created into this world and your features have been made that way for a reason,” he says. “God has made you beautiful for a reason. Always be secure and amazed at your body, skin color, weight, as you are — you are beautiful.”
His words are resonating with followers, with some even sharing they have the same condition.

Jay says his inbox is open to any teen who’s struggling with their confidence. “Feel free to ask questions,” he says. “I’ve had multiple people tell me they’re shy. But don’t be.”
