- Amber Portwood allegedly pulled a machete on her boyfriend and threatened to kill herself before she was arrested.
- Amber was arrested on July 5 in Indiana for domestic battery.
On July 5, Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood was arrested in Indiana for domestic battery after getting into an argument with her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon. The fight allegedly involved her attacking him with a shoe while he was holding their 1-year-old son, James, but now there are even more alleged details about the altercation and they’re pretty alarming.
According to an affidavit obtained by Radar Online, via People, Andrew claimed the argument stemmed from the family not being able to see the fireworks on July 4 because there was too much traffic. Allegedly, Amber got upset, Andrew dropped her off at home to “cool off” while he drove around with their son, and when he came back home, she hit him with the shoe.
Then, Andrew claims he left the house again and drove around for three hours, but when he came back, she allegedly “was coming at him like she was going to hit him.”
The affidavit continues: “Mr. Glennon stated Ms. Portwood told him to put [James] down. Mr. Glennon stated [James] was crying and upset, and he was not going to put him down.” And when he didn’t put James down, she then allegedly “threatened to kill herself.”
After that, the affidavit states she “picked up a machete toward him and [James].” When he locked himself and their son in the office, he claims she “struck the door with the machete and kicked the door and broke the handle.” (For anyone wondering why she even has a machete, Andrew said she uses it for protection because “she is unable to possess a firearm” and added that she “got the machete after hearing a gunshot in the neighborhood.”)
Andrew then said that’s when he called for help and she “broke down and started crying” while sitting at the top of the stairs in their home.
