'Teen Mom 2' star Jenelle Evans defends husband's homophobic comments

On Monday’s Teen Mom 2 Reunion: Part II, host Dr. Drew Pinsky went to North Carolina to interview Jenelle Evans after she refused to go to the taping in New York. During their conversation, she managed to find ways to defend some of her behavior this season, like pulling a gun during a road rage incident with her son in the car, and not giving him his prescribed medication.

But while defending her husband, David Eason, and the homophobic remarks that prompted MTV to stop filming him, one particular comment got fans on Twitter fired up.

He just doesn’t want his kids to grow up and be that way,” Evans said. “Just like if you don’t want your kid to grow up and like, say, be a doctor.”

Along with saying that it’s “just the way he was raised,” Evans’s defense of Eason’s offensive tweets and text messages got even more ridiculous as Dr. Drew pressed her.

His kids didn’t hear him say that — he typed it,” Evans said about Eason’s comments. “He doesn’t run around the house saying, ‘I hate gay people.’”

Teen Mom 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on MTV.
