A 17-year-old Texas teen was arrested after an off-duty police officer said he heard him threatening to shoot up his former high school while they played an online video game together.

Police said Devant Y’Shaun Davis-Brooks was playing the video game early Wednesday morning when he said — over a gaming voice chat — that he was planning a shooting at Taylor High School.

According to Taylor police, the teenager did not realize he was playing with an off-duty Fort Worth police officer, who immediately notified authorities in Taylor.

“When he made the threats, he referenced the fact that he had been involved in something before and advised to ‘Google it and you’ll know who I am,'” Cmdr. Joseph Branson with the Taylor Police Department told Fox 4.

Davis-Brooks had been arrested five months ago on misdemeanor charges of threatening his former school, just after the school day began, when he and a group of friends made comments that were “threatening in nature,” said Branson.

This time, the teenager was arrested and charged with making a terrorist threat, which is a third-degree felony.

Davis-Brooks, who is currently in custody at the Williamson County Jail on a $25,000 bond, could face two to 10 years in prison if convicted.

While the police officer playing the video game wished to remain anonymous, his department says it is proud of his actions and for staying vigilant while he was off duty.
