Teddy Perkins Went to the Emmy Awards Tonight

It's going to be hard to top this Atlanta moment.

We're an hour into the Emmys, or as it has now been renamed, The First Annual Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Fan Convention, and there have been few surprises in the winners so far. But there was a surprise in the front row. Take a look at Bill Hader leaving the stage after winning the Emmy for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and the crowd applauding:

That sure looks like Teddy Perkins in the front row, Donald Glover's whiteface character from a standout episode of Atlanta: Robbin' Season (OK, they were all standout episodes but still).

Now, here's the mystery: Glover seemingly did not walk the red carpet before the show, and before Perkins' appearance, had not been seen tonight at all. Is that actually Donald Glover? Did he really show up as his perfectly realized, disturbing character from his own TV show? Did he maybe send someone in his stead (the working theory is Lakeith Stanfield? Anyway, here are a few more shots of Teddy, whoever he may be, at the show.

[Update: The cameras just cut to Donald Glover Classic™ in the audience. He was not playing pinball in Glendale as I had sorely hoped.]
