  • NBC just shared a new promo video for season 18 of The Voice.

  • The hilarious teaser features Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and new coach Nick Jonas.

  • Shelton pretends he doesn’t know who Jonas is—poking fun at the fact that he will be replacing Shelton’s longtime girlfriend, Gwen Stefani.

Blake Shelton has some thoughts about Nick Jonas replacing his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, as a coach on The Voice season 18. In a hilarious promo video for the upcoming season, fellow Voice coach John Legend asks Shelton if he’s said “Hi” to Nick Jonas, the new guy, yet. Shelton replies with “Nick, who?”

“Nick Jonas, a Jonas Brother. He’s our new coach,” Legend says, while showing him a picture of the two of them. “Look, we were together last night!”

Kelly Clarkson, another fellow Voice coach, then appears wearing a shirt with Jonas’s face on it and asks, “How pumped are we?” Shelton insists he is “not pumped” and everyone wonders why he is acting so strange. In a strange twist, Shelton’s dressing room door opens, revealing Jonas merchandise everywhere. “OK, maybe I’ve heard about him,” the country star admits.

Then, Jonas appears and Carson Daly delivers Shelton’s latest merch, a large portrait of him and Jonas holding white bunnies.

Shelton’s had a history of toying with Jonas ever since it was announced that the Close singer was joining The Voice in October. “Nick Jonas! How you doin’, buddy? I heard that you’re going to be a new coach on The Voice and I wanted to say congratulations, I guess,” Shelton said to Jonas during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I’m going to have to look through the rules because this is my TV show,” he said. “I’m not even sure if you’re old enough to be a coach on The Voice, but I’m certain that you’re going to get your butt kicked, buddy.”

Clarkson and Legend were quick to defend him, though. “Our mission is to destroy Blake Shelton. We have to form an alliance. Me, you, Kelly,” Legend said to Jonas.

Shelton also said that he blamed Jonas for replacing his girlfriend, Stefani, who took the place of Adam Levine to coach The Voice season 17. “I’m gonna take [Gwen leaving] out on Nick Jonas,” Shelton told Extra. “I mean, it’s not his fault. But I’m not happy about it and he’s gonna be sitting there, the new guy. So I’m gonna bully him a little bit, to be honest with you.”

He says Stefani might be back, though! “We’re not seeing the last of Gwen on that show by any means,” he said during a post-CMA press conference in November, per Entertainment Tonight. “I wouldn’t say we’ve seen the last of anybody who’s ever been on that show. They’ve said from the beginning that once somebody’s a coach on The Voice, they’re always a part of the family.”

Regardless of Shelton’s friendly banter, the new coach seems thrilled to join the cast. “I’m so excited to be a part of The Voice family,” Jonas said in a statement from October. “It’s such an awesome group of individuals, and I can’t wait to help these artists really build and hone in to find their unique voices.”

Catch Season 18 of The Voice on Monday, Feb. 24 on NBC.
