Taylor Swift has forked out almost £4,000 to help pay a fan’s college tuition.

The US singer, 29, dug deep after hearing that the student was struggling to pay for her education and may have to drop out of school.

The fan, whose name is Ayesha Khurram, had penned a message about her financial troubles on Tumblr.

It seems it came to the attention of Swift, who decided to step in and help.

Khurram then posted a screenshot of a PayPal transaction from Taylor Nation.

It said she had been given $6,386 Canadian dollars – a total of £3,958.

The accompanying note read: "Ayesha, get your learn on girl. I love you! Taylor.”

Khurram said: “I posted about struggling with paying for tuition. two hours later, i get this in my email. i have no words and i can’t stop crying. i don’t have words i don’t have words i don’t have words i can’t stop crying.”

She later said that PayPal had “matched up” the amount the star had given her.

“@paypal just matched up taylor’s amount and now i have more money than i could ever ask for/dream of and i can’t stop crying,” she said.

@taylorswift this is all because of you and no words could ever be enough to thank you for what you’ve done for me, now and over the years. i love you.”

It isn’t the first time Swift has made a fan’s dreams come true.

She once surprised one of her admirers by turning up at their wedding and previously helped a fan pay their student loans.
