From the early 2010s until she got into her long-term relationship with Joe Alwyn, Taylor Swift was pegged with the rather dumb identifier of being “boy crazy.” Swift is a young woman who is consenting, and can date whoever she wants, and for years people vilified her for it. Which, let’s face it, is beyond dumb. In recent years, Swift has been more open about her current relationship with Travis Kelce and her past relationships. However, there are quite a few romances that long-time fans remember that she has never commented on.

Now, we know about Harry Styles and Jake Gyllenhaal and the messy aftermath of those breakups, but what about the ones that were in a couple of headlines and then straight up disappeared?! Neither party has commented on them, and Swift has never mentioned these alleged partners since.

But fans have wondered, which ones fall into this category of unconfirmed romancer? Well, we have quite a few you may have forgotten about.

Something to keep in mind is that neither Swift nor these men have publicly confirmed, denied, or even commented on the alleged romance.

Zac Efron

Back in 2012, Taylor Swift and Zac Efron sparked dating rumors since they got close after starring in The Lorax together.

Fans were swooning when the duo sang “Pumped Up Kicks” together on The Ellen Show but Efron seized the opportunity to shut down dating rumors with a lyric change. He sang: “Calling us out like we’re boyfriend and girlfriend but it’s not ‘cause we’re just sitting here.”

The actor also voiced his love for Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce in a 2024 interview.

“I love the whole Travis, Taylor thing,” Zac gushed to E! News in February. “Man, I’m so happy for them. They’re two of the best people in the world. How can you not be stoked?”

Alexander Skarsgård

After being pictured together in Oct 2013, Taylor Swift and Alexander Skarsgård sparked dating rumors.

Those rumors persisted even more during her 2014 music video for “Wildest Dreams,” which had parallels to their roles in the film The Giver, per the List. The video shows Swift appearing to film a movie in Africa, which is exactly what she had done with the actor a year earlier.

Matthew Gray Gubler

Fans have been convinced for years that Taylor Swift and Matthew Gray Gubler secretly dated. Per TheThings, fans think her songs “Wildest Dreams” and “Begin Again” could be about her alleged relationship with Gubler. The reason these rumors started was because of her Fourth of July pics from over a decade ago.

Garrett Hedlund

So, back in 2011, it was rumored that Taylor Swift and Garrett Hedlund were dating since they were seen together at a few events. But that was seemingly all there was to it.

Hedlund went on to date Kirsten Dunst for about four years after the Swift rumors died down.

Tom Odell

After her split from Harry Styles, Taylor Swift was seen out and about with Tom Odell in 2013, per PopCrush.

While the rumors didn’t take flight, Odell did release a 2021 song titled “Country Star” and fans speculate that the lyrics may reference Swift.

He sings: “Picture this, I’m in an English bar, With a young American country star, She’s telling me all about her new guitar, She’s a little bit clever, a little bit daft, A little bit happy with a broken heart.”

Eddie Redmayne

And the same thing happened the same year between Taylor Swift and Eddie Redmayne. They were spotted together and never spoke about it. But per Business Insider, it was discovered that she actually auditioned for Les Miserables. 

Patrick Schwarzenegger

Patrick Schwarzenegger and Taylor Swift were also rumored to have a romantic relationship after being seen together at a Kennedy family wedding, per People.

However, this is right around the time Swift was linked to another Kennedy relative, RFK Jr.’s son, Connor Kennedy, so we’re guessing there was never anything between her and Schwarzenegger.

Brenton Thwaites

Back in 2015, Brenton Thwaites and Taylor Swift were rumored to have been romantically linked. Same story: they were seen out together a few times, and neither never spoke of it again.
