Happy 1989 (Taylor's Version) release date to all those who celebrate! As well as a new version of her best-selling album, Taylor has also shared five new tracks, *and* responded to rumours about her sexuality in the prologue. Talk about multitasking.

Speculation about Taylor Swift being bisexual has been rife among the fandom for years, especially when it came to her friendship with model Karlie Kloss. The pair became pals around 2014, heading on road trips, holding hands on the way to dinner and even posing for magazine covers like Vogue together.

But in a new extended introduction, Taylor looks back at her life aged 24 (how old she was in 2014 when 1989 was first released), and explains how desperate she was to "silence" the people who were obsessed with her dating life, by hanging out with only female friends - only for that to become tabloid fodder, too.

Taylor writes:

"It became clear to me that for me there was no such thing as casual dating, or even having a male friend who you platonically hang out with. If I was seen with him, it was assumed I was sleeping with him. And so, I swore off hanging out with guys. Dating, flirting, or anything that could be weaponised against me by a culture that claimed to believe in liberating women but consistently treated me with the harsh moral codes of the Victorian era.

"I swore off dating and decided to focus only on myself, my music, my growth, and my female friendships. If I only hung out with my female friends, people couldn’t sensationalise or sexualise that right? I would learn later on that people could and people would."

Back in 2019, Taylor also confirmed to Vogue the she was 'not a part of' the LGTBQ+ community, but wanted to speak up and protect the community. "I didn’t realise until recently that I could advocate for a community that I’m not a part of.

"It’s hard to know how to do that without being so fearful of making a mistake that you just freeze. Because my mistakes are very loud. When I make a mistake, it echoes through the canyons of the world. It’s clickbait, and it’s a part of my life story, and it’s a part of my career arc."

With that, we're off to stream 1989 (Taylor's Version) again. How about you?
