ICYMI, the MTV Video Music Awards show happened last night, and Taylor Swift made a huge announcement: She has a new album coming out. And it's coming out really soon.
Swifties everywhere are celebrating because it’s been a minute since Taylor released a brand new album. "I had sort of made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this, I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand-new album comes out October 21st," Taylor said while accepting the award for Video of the Year.
Taylor brought home her third Video of the Year award for “All Too Well: The Short Film," which, by the way, is a new record for VMA Video of the Year awards won by a single artist. Her other wins include "Bad Blood" and "You Need To Calm Down," per Pitchfork.
She also posted even more easter eggs about her new album at midnight after the awards show. Naturally, people have a lot of big questions. Here’s what you need to know.
What is the album title?
The new album is called “Midnights,” according to Instagram and other social media posts.

There aren’t a ton of details about it RN, but Taylor said on Instagram that the album is “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.”
Specifically, it's a "collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face.”
She continued: "For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching — hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve ... we'll meet ourselves.”
Sounds like just the right amount of drama for Queen Tay.
What has she said about the album?
Aside from her quick IG post and speech at the VMAs, she hasn't said anything else about the album. In fact, it's big news to everyone that she's been working on it.
However, she did wear two star-inspired outfits at the awards show and the afterparty, so perhaps that was a little nod to her album, too.
How many songs will be on the album?
The album has 13 tracks—and if you're new here, 13 is Taylor’s lucky number, of course. Right now, they all seemed to be titled by number. So, there’s Track One, Track Two, etc. But their real titles have not yet been released.
