Taylor Swift Debuted Her Latest Rerecorded Song in a Movie Trailer About Horses

In true unpredictable Taylor Swift fashion, the singer released a teaser for "Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version)" in the new trailer for Spirit Untamed (and on her Instagram Story), Dreamworks's new film about wild horses and runaway trains. The move comes after Swift dropped "Love Story (Taylor's Version)" in a Match.com ad that featured Ryan Reynolds.
The original "Wildest Dreams" was released on Swift's album 1989, back in 2014. In another very Swift-esque twist, Spirit Untamed stars the vocal stylings of Jake Gyllenhaal, the singer's ex-boyfriend. He's lending his voice to the character of Jim Prescott, presumably a character that isn't drinking maple lattes and inspiring songs like "All Too Well."
Naturally, Twitter users were elated to see that Swift was one step closer to rerecording her catalog in the wake of Scooter Braun's acquisition of her masters. Even though they only got a tiny preview of the full track, it was something of a religious experience for some Swifties.

Though not everyone felt that way. Others observed that an animated movie about horses seemed like a weird flex for an artist up for a few Grammys this weekend and a track record of selling out entire stadiums for star-studded concert tours.
'Wildest Dreams' really hits different with Taylor Swift's updated mature 'Taylor's Version' vocals and the sounds of beautiful animated horses.

Entertainment Tonight reports that during an appearance on Good Morning America, Swift explained that she'd finished recording the tracks from Fearless and would be releasing Fearless (Taylor's Version) on April 9. In addition to the entire album, fans will get a few bonus tracks, too, so that they get "the full picture" Swift intended all along.
"My version of Fearless will have 26 songs on it, because I've decided to add songs from the vault, which are songs that almost made the original Fearless album," she said. "I've now gone back and recorded those, so that everybody will be able to hear, not only the songs that made the album, but the songs that almost made it. The full picture."
