  • Tati Westbrook just made a second YouTube video to address the controversy around her "feud" with James Charles.

  • She said she never intended for the whole issue to blow up as much as it did.

Tati Westbrook just took a break from her self-imposed social media hiatus to explain why she decided to make her original "BYE SISTER..." video targeting James Charles.

First, she said the whole thing blew up to be way bigger than she ever could have anticipated.

“I thought that I would be the one that would take the hit,” she explained. Since she posted the original video, she's gained approximately five million followers while James has lost three million.

“I knew this would cause a lot of controversy, I know that,” she said. "But I didn’t think it would get to this magnitude. I didn’t think it was possible.”

Basically, the original video called out James for a variety of things, including using a competitor of hers for sponsored ads, and an alleged pattern of targeting and harassing straight men. She said that as his friend, she cares about him and she wanted to get him to pay attention.

“This was really a wakeup call, and it was me trying to reach someone who I found completely unreachable,” she said. “I had been trying to deliver the same message so many times because this wasn’t just about one thing.”

She said there have been a lot of private conversations that fans don't know about, which makes it tough. While she didn't technically apologize for making the original vid, she did say she wants everyone to stop harassing the people on both sides of this issue.

“I do really want the hate to stop. I want the picking sides, and the abusive memes and the language, and all of that, I really hope on both sides it can stop. That’s not why I made the video.”

Earlier this week, Tati tweeted that she was taking a break from social media for the time being, and she was quick to tell her followers this video didn't mean that hiatus was over.

“I’m not back,” she said. “I needed to hop on, answer some questions and at least do that for you while I take a time out.”

“I’ve always said I want my channel to be an escape and like a good place to play with makeup and fun stuff like that. And I still want my channel to be that, but right now, you know, I need to take a time out.”
