Taron Egerton has been packing on muscle over the last year, providing updates in the form of gym thirst traps on Instagram, and he has just revealed the results of his training in a brief shirtless video on his Story. The video—captured and shared on main by a fan account—shows the Rocketman star dancing in just a towel to the Bee Gees, showing off his chest gains, jacked arms, and six-pack abs.

The Welsh actor's newly jacked physique has once again prompted widespread speculation that he is getting ready to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the newest incarnation of the beloved X-Men character Wolverine. Egerton, who is friends with legacy Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman after starring alongside him in Eddie the Eagle, has been at the centre of casting rumors for years now, although he has downplayed them in the past.

"As far as I’m aware it’s unfounded," he said in 2019. "I don’t know if I’m quite grisly enough. I mean if the people at Marvel think I am then great, let’s go. But I think there are probably better candidates. But I would love to be involved with that world somewhere."

At least one Hollywood director thinks that he is a prime candidate. Matthew Vaughn, who directed Egerton in Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and put his own stamp on the X0Men with 2011's First Class, has said that he could play Wolverine "in his sleep," and would be one of his top choices to take on the iconic role.

"Well, he's got older now, but I would say Tom Hardy would have...been awesome," Vaughn told ComicBook.com. "I think Taron [Egerton] could do it in his sleep. Aaron Taylor-Johnson could do it as well. I mean, I think Aaron or Taron would be my first two choices could do it really well."
