It's known that the Duchess of Cambridge wears Princess Diana's sapphire engagement ring. But that's not the only jewelry she's borrowed from Diana.
Crowned by the nation as the People’s Princess, Diana enchanted people around the globe with her down-to-earth nature and innate ability to connect with others. Wearing everything from ’80s tartan power suits to sweet pie-crust collars and even overalls, Diana was certainly not afraid to break Buckingham Palace’s fashion protocol. The Princess of Wales would even shun royal accessories when she knew she’d be greeting children.

For the first time, Ana Khouri is collaborating with Gemfields to create a special five-piece capsule collection made of ethically-sourced emeralds from Zambia. If you don’t know Khouri, she is part of a new wave of fine jewelry designers. She approaches her designs through the viewpoint of an artist versus that of a traditional commercial jeweler. As a result, Khouri creates jewelry that is more architectural in shape and often references artists such as Richard Serra and Alexander Calder. Khouri’s jewelry sculpts around the ears and body in fresh ways. When Khouri launched her eponymous line in 2006, one of her biggest breakout pieces was her Mirian earrings , which curved into the ear. A new iteration of the Mirian earrings, this time in emerald, are part of the Gemfield collaboration. Celebrities who’ve worn Khouri on the red carpet include Oscar-winning actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Lupita Nyong’o , as well as Emma Watson , Katy Perry , and Zoë Kravitz , among many others. Although Khouri originally attended art school for sculpture, she later earned her stripes attending the Gemological Institute of America, Parsons School of Design in New York, and London’s Central Saint Martins. Khouri’s jewelry has traditionally consisted of yellow gold and diamonds, which makes the new emeralds an exciting new colorful step for the Brazilian designer. Although, being ethically minded has always been a big part of Khouri’s ethos. She is currently part of the Fair Trade Alliance for Responsible Mining and CFDA. Khouri shares with Yahoo Style more on why ethical sourcing is important to her: “ I work with fair-mined gold as well as naturally and ethically sourced gems because it allows me to be certain of the responsible journey the material has taken all the way from their mines. Social, economic, and ecological responsibilities should be incorporated into brands on an everyday basis and be an extension of the person behind it. It’s part of the way I choose to live and that reflects on my brand.” You can find Ana Khouri’s limited-edition emerald collection on ModaOperandi.com until July 16. All eyes were on Rihanna and her deluxe fur coat at the Dior Sauvage Cruise 2018 show in L.A. last night. It takes style skill to stand out among 800 guests, including celebs Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, and Kiernan Shipka. If you’re inspired by Rihanna, go forth and shop her look — or rather, emulate it — with some key turquoise pieces. The trick here is to pile them on, the more the better.
The emerald is not only an exquisite gem, it’s also the official birthstone for May. Why not celebrate the month when flowers start to bloom again with this season’s most beautiful emerald jewels in the freshest cuts and styles? Emeralds, known for their lush green color, are thought to symbolize fortune and youth. Interestingly, the first documented emerald mines date to at least 330 B.C. In fact, emeralds were highly valued in Egyptian culture, notably by Cleopatra herself, who sought the precious gem during her reign.
To help bolster small, independent jewelry designers, Yahoo Style rounded up four need-to-know designers from the U.S., Israel, and Singapore. Unlike fashion designers, jewelry designers often don’t have the same opportunities to showcase their new seasonal collections during Fashion Week, where they are presented with a global audience consisting of esteemed buyers, editors, and stylists. Think along the lines of elegant, minimalist jewelry styles that would complement any collection by modernist fashion pioneers Céline, The Row, and Lemaire. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, a celebration of our Mexican neighbors’ rich culture, history, and zest for life, we look at the country that gave us Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Luis Barragán to name a few. President Trump might want to erect a wall to divide America and Mexico, but we’d like to to honor the incredible artisans from Mexico and their unique crafts and skills.

With stores dropping Ivanka Trump’s label left and right, leave it to oft-neglected first daughter Tiffany Trump to spot an opportunity to fill her sisters’s definitely-not-Ivanka-Trump-brand shoes. Tiffany Trump shared what appears to be her latest project in an Instagram story on Monday night: DIY jewelry. Last that was reported on Tiffany’s career aspirations, she was aiming for less Etsy artist and more high-powered attorney, although nothing short of her father’s reduced funding for the arts could stop her from doing both. Tiffany recently toured law schools the likes of Harvard, Columbia and New York University after reportedly taking the LSATs in December.
From the moment Beyoncé released Lemonade, she was on a creative high and took us all along for the ride. There was the epic tour and show-stopping appearances at awards programs. Then there was that rousing performance of “Daddy Lessons” with the Dixie Chicks at the CMAs.
You can now buy a small, glittering piece of Princess Diana’s legacy — if you have $12 million. A diamond necklace known as the Swan Lake Suite, made of 178 diamonds and five pearls, has gone up for auction at the New York auction house Guernsey’s. Diana wore the necklace only once publicly, to a performance of the ballet at the Royal Albert Hall in June 1997. According to The Sun, the necklace was made with matching earrings.
