Such a beautiful quote to give us all a well-deserved break from all of the things we feel we should do, what we could do better, and what we would do if we have more time on a hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis.
I sit before you today with the hope of going with you on a journey that will give us both inspiration, motivation, hope, faith, laughter, perhaps some tears only to find joy and ultimately lessons about how almost no matter what is happening in your life and mine, we can choose to make each day 'anewfavoriteday.'
I am sure you may be asking yourself, why should we care about you? Who are you? It's a fair question, for in many ways I am just like you and I am a survivor.
My name is Shannon Pruitt and you will come to know my full story as we spend more time together here on this blog. At my core, I am a woman trying to be a woman, a wife, a daughter, sister, friend and exceed in my most important role, a mom to twins who were born 12 weeks early, with a daughter who now has special needs.
You will meet my family.
My two-year old twins Q and E who give me greater joy than anything I have ever known.
Q who is thriving and close to his 2 year old developmental age and E who has been significantly more challenged medically and neurologically with Cerebral Palsy and Sensory Processing Disorder making her the equivalent of a 6-7 month old. She is a ray of sunshine in our lives and helps our family as we learn our own lessons of love, support, and rising to meet whatever challenges may greet us in the coming days, weeks, months and years.
You will meet my husband KSP
And other members of my family as we interact.
'Mynewfavoriteday' is a look into our daily lives as I try, like all of you, not to become overwhelmed in balancing, work, home, life, babies, family, friends, therapies, medical appointments, advocacy while making time for myself and following my dream of writing. I try to maintain perspective through all the lessons I have been happy to learn and those that have proven much more challenging and painful. I try to take those lessons as I share them and find a nugget of inspiration so that even a slight ray of light can remind me to be present and grateful for each day and can hopefully help you as well through reminders, sharing and community.
Each week I will also take your comments and do a special post answering questions or an inspired thought that is shared through this blog, so that you all might also get the spotlight to share what inspires you and how your stories might help others.
Because, we can never judge another person by what you see on the outside, as we are doing the best we can in the circumstances we are in, this is meant to be a safe place to relate to others, to not be alone, to share and find whatever you might be looking for under the cover of compassion, empathy and shared emotions and experiences.
Welcome to 'mynewfavoriteday' on Yahoo! I hope today will be 'Yournewfavoriteday' where you can take a break from all your shoulds, woulds and coulds to focus on the moments and lessons we are learning and experiencing each day.
