This mother and daughter are huge fans of Ellen, but they're even bigger fans of each other.
Jude Marks and her daughter Gabriana from Santa Cruz, California have a beautiful bond that's only grown stronger through hard times. Three years ago, Jude, 71, was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called anaplastic hemangiopericytoma. She underwent brain surgery and radiation, leaving her with vision and hearing problems, damaged short-term memory, and difficulty walking.
Gabriana, 31, dropped everything to stay home with Jude and become her full-time caregiver. "My mom is my best friend and we've been close since I was little," she tells the Good News blog. "I believe that we are all put on this Earth to take care of each other, and I see no better way to do that than to care for my mama."
Jude was set to permanently move to Venice, Italy before she got sick. Wanting to lift her mother's spirits, Gabriana sold many of her belongings in order to afford to take her mother on vacation to Venice.
"I've learned that the trick to keeping my mama going in her struggles with brain cancer is something exciting to look forward to," she says. The duo's latest adventure? Attending a taping of "Ellen"!
"She was so beyond thrilled to come to 'The Ellen Show,'" Gabriana tells us. "We have found that Ellen brings us joy and laughter when it didn't seem possible."
When Ellen heard about Jude and Gabriana's beautiful relationship and love for one another, she wanted to give them the ultimate Mother's Day surprise: tickets to 12 Days of Giveaways!
Now this mother and daughter have even more wonderful things to look forward to!
