  • Valentine’s Special: Hidden Hearts Found Around the World

By Sherry Ott / Ott’s World“Those that go searching for love, only manifest their own loveless-ness. And the loveless never find love, only the loving find love. And they never have to seek for it.” — D.H. Lawrence I’ve never really went out searching for love, and I’ve certainly never sat around waiting for it. My theory in life is to just live the life you want and love will find you. However, in my travels I do search for signs of love. And throughout the years in various corners of the world, I’ve found them. Some are obvious, and some are hidden. And there are a few that I think are messages potentially sent for me personally, to remind me of the ones I love who remain in place while I’m in continuous motion around the globe.Related: We Planned It: What to Do for Valentine’s Day in 14 CitiesLet Yahoo Travel inspire you every day. • What It’s Like on Germany’s Tallest Mountain: There’s Beer

I live for winter weekends. Cruising down the ski slopes, the brisk air whipping at my face makes me feel alive (and toasting my active day at après-ski makes me feel accomplished). However, it’s hard to beat warm days filled with nature hikes, waterfalls and crystalline lakes. But I found a place where you can have it all in the same day. Germany’s jaw-dropping Bavaria is one of the most active regions I’ve ever experienced. It certainly offers variety, boasting the country’s tallest ski resort, with trails open year round. ...

  • 7 Little-Known UNESCO World Heritage Sites You Should Visit

By Matt Long / LandLopersIf you’re a little nerdy like me, then visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites when you travel is probably something you enjoy. Even if it’s not you’ve probably visited a few without even realizing it. In case you’re not familiar with them, in 1972 the UN, through the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, began recognizing important sites around the world that they consider vital in order to maintain the cultural and natural heritage we have all inherited. We all know the big ones (Pyramids, Great Wall of Chine, etc.) but why I especially love visiting these sites is because most of them I wouldn’t know about if it weren’t for their UNESCO designation. I’ve discovered a lot of little known, off the beaten path sites that turned out to be fascinating, fun places to explore. There are more than 1,000 sites around the world and although I’ve only been to 130, I decided to go through my notes and share a few of the ones that although you may not know, you should definitely add them to your must-visit list.WATCH: Go Now: The New Seventh Wonder of the World — That’s EmptyLet Yahoo Travel inspire you every day.
