  • What Jewelry To Wear At Every Age

Just like there is age-appropriate dressing, there are unspoken rules when it comes to your jewelry. It’s not just about ditching your toe rings from your teenage years (those must go!) but also investing in a good watch in your thirties or splurging on statement earrings in your forties. • What’s the Deal with Diamond Dust in Beauty Products?

Are there benefits to diamonds in your beauty products? So I admit, I was a little skeptical when I kept coming across products that boasted diamond powder and dust as the standout ingredient — especially since these products don’t break the bank. “When people are including diamond powder or dust in a cream, the benefit for your skin is a little bit of exfoliation, because diamonds are hard,” says Dr. Sajel K. Shah of Smarter Skin Dermatology in New York City. To get the exfoliating benefits without a visit to your facialist, try The Refining Facial from La Mer ($90), which uses the brand’s signature Miracle Broth and pure diamond dust to polish skin.

  • Billionaire Buys World’s Most Expensive Diamond for 7-Year-Old Daughter

A new record for most expensive diamond was set by a 12.03-carat blue diamond sold at auction for $48.4 million. The Blue Moon diamond weighs in at 12.03 carats and Sotheby’s auctioneer David Bennett identified it as the “highest price per carat” ever obtained for any kind of stone, so the buyer didn’t necessarily get a bang for his buck. Sotheby’s withheld the identity of the winning bidder, who renamed the diamond “Blue Moon of Josephine” upon purchase. The day before, a 16.08-carat pink diamond was purchased by an anonymous bidder at a Christie’s auction in Geneva for $28.5 million, and was named “Sweet Josephine.” That’s one lucky kid.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio Wants Diamonds to Grow on Trees

The Santa Clara-based startup Diamond Foundry claims it can grow diamonds in a lab that are as high-quality as natural gems, minus the exploitation of the mining industry. Actor Leonardo DiCaprio, along with 10 billionaires, have already invested in the company, which says it can make hundreds of diamonds in two weeks, weighing up to nine carats each. The company’s website is short on details, but here’s what we know: They start with a real diamond as a seed crystal. The gems are grown in chemical reactors that can reach a scorching 8,000 degrees Celsius (more than 14,000 degrees Fahreneit) — hotter than the surface of the sun, which is about 5,500 degrees Celsius.

  • 10 Gorgeous Engagement Rings for $5,000 or Less

Finding the perfect engagement ring is a big deal. Besides your (generally) straightforward wedding band, it’s the only piece of jewelry you plan on wearing… for ever! Dreaming up the ideal gem is easy. You’ve probably been pinning celebrity sparkle to your secret “Future Mrs.” Pinterst board for months, but the reality is that your guy probably doesn’t have a Kimye-sized bank account. And, in most cases, it’s your man’s financial status that determines which rock you get.
