When you get down to it, good music, an iconic New York restaurant for setting, a few celebrities thrown in, and some pretty glamorous clothes are really all you need for a great show. The Designer: Brandon Maxwell started his label a little over a year ago, and since then has dressed Naomi Campbell and Karlie Kloss, and of course we all know he is best friend and stylist to Lady Gaga. Steven Klein, Jessie Smollet, Naomi Campbell, and Lady Gaga all attend Brandon Maxwell’s Spring 2017 show.
Michelle Obama will appear on the cover of two magazines in October as she prepares to leave the White House.

With so many designers showing at New York Fashion Week, it’s difficult to cut through the noise and keep tabs of which designers to watch. That’s where we step in with Like Now. In this episode, we’re introducing three designers—like Brandon Maxwell who was put on the map by Lady Gaga and Self Portrait’s Han Chong, who’s gotten celebrities to embrace the lace—worth taking note of…like, now.
Lady Gaga is known for, among other things, her attention-commanding outfits. After years of meat dresses, cyborg sunglasses, and face jewelry (before Givenchy did it, thank you very much), we still love Gaga’s envelope-pushing style, but we can’t say we’re shocked when she turns up in another outrageous getup, exactly. It’s more like: “Okay, you’re wearing a red onesie with an actual Christmas tree on your head: noted.” So naturally, the provocateur has moved on to the most shocking thing she can possibly do now: Dressing like a normal person (more or less).
Of all of the Fashion Week debuts over the past few days — of which there has been many — we were so intrigued to see what Brandon Maxwell was concocting that we rushed to get a sneak peak. Despite the nerve-wracking request, Lady Gaga’s 30-year-old fashion director-turned-designer graciously said yes. Maxwell has been dreaming of becoming a designer since he was a young boy growing up in the small town of Lancaster, Texas (and it was his famous friend who eventually encouraged him to make the jump). “She’s one of his best friends,” says Maxwell of the star who flew in from filming American Horror Story for the occasion.
The urgent clack-clack on pavement can mean only one thing: Fashion Week is here. From the models to the shows, the designers to the parties, Yahoo Style has all the dirt on where to go, who to see and, most important, what to Instagram (including the first ever Insta-only fashion show!). From the special 10-year anniversaries of Alexander Wang, Riccardo Tisci, and Phillip Lim — and what it means from a numerology POV —to the musical chairs at Brooks Brothers (Zac Posen) and DKNY (Public School), we have a rundown on everything that matters this Fashion Week.
Stylist to Lady Gaga, clothing designer and magazine editor, this man had it going on with his dog. I asked him a few q’s and this is what I got. They’re all Frenchies so they have crazy times together.
