Speaking in an interview with PBS Newshour, the younger Bush described how his mother was "slightly feisty still" even while she was in the hospital. "She and I used to kind of needle each other in a friendly way," Bush recalled."She was teasing me and then the doctor walked into this hospital room. And mother said, 'You want to know why George W. is the way he is, doctor?' "Because I drank and smoked while I was pregnant with him."
