  • SZA surprised fans with the release of a new song titled "Hit Different" featuring Ty Dolla Sign along with an accompanying music video.

  • The single arrives after a long wait for new original music from the singer, who wowed with her 2017 album, Ctrl.

  • Since then, SZA has also released collaborations with Justin Timberlake, DJ Khaled, Travis Scott, and Kendrick Lamar.

SZA has come to save 2020. The R&B singer returned with new music tonight, dropping a previously unannounced single titled "Hit Different" featuring Ty Dolla Sign. And yes, there's a video too.

In the visuals, the "Supermodel" singer exudes her cool girl swagger while backed by dancers and visually stunning sets. In one moment, she's romping around a junk yard in a neon orange ensemble; in another, she's lounging with a small menagerie of farm animals. She dresses down in tie-dye coordinates, dances in a baby blue look, and ends the video with stunning, beaded braids.

She teased the new release just about an hour before the new song dropped, sharing a still of herself from the video covered in red body paint in a field.

The laid-back "Hit Different" arrives after a long wait for new SZA music, following the release of her stellar 2017 album, Ctrl. The singer got fans excited for new releases when she teased new music earlier this year, but last month she seemed to imply that she was facing delays with her label, Top Dawg Entertainment. She later clarified, though, that she and her music are not being "held hostage."

SZA has dropped a few collaborations in recent years following her album, including "The Other Side" with Justin Timberlake for Trolls World Tour, "Just Us" with DJ Khaled, "Power Is Power" with Travis Scott and The Weeknd for Game of Thrones, and "All the Stars" with Kendrick Lamar for Black Panther.

We hope that the release of "Hit Different" means there's much more SZA music on the way.
