SZA is her own best model. Since the singer-songwriter announced the launch of Ctrl Fishing Company—a brand committed to saving the ocean, as she framed it in an Instagram story last year—she has debuted numerous different pieces from the collection. She gave us an initial peek at the upcoming line this past December with a colorful, ’80s-inspired windbreaker with the words “Puck Flastic” embroidered onto it in bold lettering, and just a few months ago, she showed off one of Ctrl Fishing Company’s upcycled shirts, patched together from old tie dye tees.
Now, the artist is bridging her focus on sustainability with her futuristic onstage wardrobe. Performing at the Splendour in the Grass festival in the North Byron Parklands in Wooyung, Australia, SZA showed off the full range of her style sensibilities in an Instagram slideshow (after she had some quality time with some koalas and kangaroos, that is). SZA took a selfie in a big blue T-shirt printed with a breaching humpback whale from her own line, and then she struck the very same pose in a much more unconventional outfit comprised of a black bodysuit and a utility belt-cum-garter. The two looks might seem at odds with one another, but they’re the “Same but diff,” as she put it in her Instagram caption. SZA’s clearly a master of both.
