  • On So You Think Can Dance on Monday night, the top 10 girls competed for a spot in the 2019 live shows.

  • The SYTYCD judges made their final cuts to determine the top 5 girls.

  • Nazz Sldryan was one of the girls sent home, and fans were not happy.

The competition really started to heat up on So You Think You Can Dance Monday night, when the top 10 girls competed for just five prestigious spots in the season 16 live shows. Performing for the judges in a style outside of their comfort zones, each of the dancers gave their all to their routines — but in the end, only Anna Linstruth, Madison Jordan, Mariah Russell, Sophie Pittman, and Stephanie Sosa were named this season's top 5 girls.

Naturally, fans of the other five dancers were sad to see their favorites go. But the loss of one 2019 finalist, in particular, had viewers seriously up in arms — and that finalist was Nazz Sldryan.

Nazz is a ballroom dancer, but for the girls' final cut episode on Monday night, she performed a hip-hop routine with SYTYCD All-Star Fik-Shun. Despite being out of her comfort zone, she really went all out for her performance, and fans went wild for it. "This was one of those routines worth repeat viewings," one fan wrote on Twitter. "Nazz KILLED that," another tweeted.

Judges Mary Murphy, Dominic "D-trix" Sandoval, Laurieann Gibson, and Nigel Lythgoe seemed to be fans of the routine, too, throwing around words such as "awesome" and "tremendous." And that's why it came as such a surprise to fans when Nazz didn't make the final cut.

After watching Monday night's episode, fan after fan took to Twitter to express their frustration at Nazz being eliminated, repeatedly saying she was "robbed" of a spot in the show's top 10.

Of course, with how much talent there is on the show this season, it was inevitable that the judges would have to make some tough decisions. Nigel, who told Nazz that he had been "fighting for" her and has "loved everything" she's done so far on SYTYCD, seemed especially torn up about the judges' cuts on Monday.

"I will be honest with you and say we were not unanimous in our choice of the Top 5," he wrote on Twitter that night. "I lost 2 dancers I would have liked and I'm sure the other judges will say the same thing."

Nigel went on to add that there are still "a stunning top 5 girls" left in the competition, and we can't argue with that. Now here's hoping all our favorites will survive the guys' final cut round next week!
