Sydney Sweeney isn’t even 25 years old yet and she has more money than most adults make in a lifetime thanks to starring in several (!!) She got her breakout role on The Handmaid’s Tale, landed a part on Sharp Objects, earned a 2022 Emmy nomination for her performance on The White Lotus, and earned yet another nomination that year for her work on Euphoria. She’s also making Marvel money thanks to a role in Madame Web.
Sydney’s exact per-episode salary isn’t known (and neither is her Marvel salary, although they typically pay, uh, very well), but she opened up about her finances in a candid interview with the Hollywood Reporter in July 2022, saying she puts a lot of pressure on herself to work consistently and doesn’t make as much money as people might assume.
“If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have income to cover that,” she explained. “I don’t have someone supporting me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help.” Um, same!
She added, “They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals. The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.”
Obviously, these comments caused some backlash because most humans who work for a living also can’t afford to take six-month breaks and the fact that she has a mortgage to worry about means she owns a home (a very pricey one—we’ll get to that in a moment), which is a luxury in and of itself, BUT moving on!!!!!!!
She Has a Production Company, TYVM
It's named Fifty-Fifty Films because, as said in an Emmys interview, the actor “[believes] that everything is a collaborative experience, that the more minds and the more hands-on something, the better the project turns out...So I always like to be fifty-fifty with all my partners.” And tbh it seems to have a slate of v exciting projects lined up. Last year, it was announced that Sydney would be starring and producing a psychological horror flick called Immaculate, which is reported to begin filming in January 2023. Her latest addition, though, is a rom-com alongside actor Glen Powell.
According to a report by Deadline, the R-rated flick has been acquired by Sony Pictures and will be directed by Will Gluck and executive produced by Sydney. All these movies = major $$$$ no doubt.
She Supplements Her Income With Brand Deals
Like most celebrities, Sydney works with several (!!) brands to make money on the side. She told the Hollywood Reporter that the overhead associated with being an actor was behind her decision to start doing brand deals with the likes of Miu Miu and Laneige, saying, “If I just acted, I wouldn’t be able to afford my life in L.A. I take deals because I have to.”
She Has a $3 Million Home
According to Dirt, Sydney purchased her home in 2021 (for $305,000 over the asking price) and it’s located in the swanky neighborhood of Westwood. No pics because privacy, but she described purchasing the house as “an incredible, humbling, amazing accomplishment that I still can’t believe I was able to pull off.”
