Dolly Parton and husband Carl Thomas Dean celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary earlier this year, but Dean is known for staying out of the spotlight. Nevertheless, that doesn't stop the Smoky Mountain Songbird from gushing about her beloved beau.
Recently, we were reminded of the adoration Parton has for her hubby in a piece called "9 Sweet Things Dolly Parton Has Said About Her Husband, Carl Dean," published on SimpleMost.com. But of all the thoughtful things Parton has said about Dean over the years, one stuck out: “I had left two boyfriends at home and the last thing I wanted was a man. I came to Nashville to work on my music. Wouldn’t you know I met him the very first day?" the country star told Parade in 2011 of their first encounter at Nashville's Wishy Washy Laundromat. "It was as if God said: This is the man that’s going to love and understand you. And Carl felt like he’d been looking for me, someone who wouldn’t try to strangle him, because he’s pretty independent. It seemed like we were brought together for a reason.”
