Much to our bewilderment, summer is winding down. But that didn't stop K-pop sensation Blackpink and Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez from dropping a pastel-drenched bop by the name of "Ice Cream." In just 15 hours, it racked up an impressive 59 million views and, at the time of writing, is still trending at the top spot on YouTube. So, what can you expect to see when you tune in? Lots of ice cream cones (of course), a Selpink ice cream truck, balloons, slides, an entire playhouse, and even a golden retriever and capybara, who Jennie lovingly shares a carrot with.
But the cherry on top? No, not the actual cherries you'll see sprinkled throughout. The bright, colorful, and all-around playful makeup looks that liven up the music itself. Since Blackpink's makeup artist revealed how vocal and involved Blackpink are in the creation of their beauty looks, we wouldn't be surprised if the quartet had a heavy hand in deciding and executing the ones seen in this music video.
Keep scrolling for our favorite beauty moments from the "Ice Cream" music video:
1. Jennie's watercolor eye makeup
Is it just us, or did Blackpink's makeup artists take a cue straight from our face mask makeup shoot? While that's probably not the case, we're totally head-over-heels for this tropical watercolor eye look. Decorated with splashes of flamingo pink, dreamy purple, and mint green, it complements the playful music video set to a T.
2. Lisa's bright minty-green hair
Lisa looks so good with this bright green hair color (the wispy bangs hit different too) that she should consider making it permanent. While Lisa is no stranger to wearing colorful wigs, this might actually be one of her best looks to date, with her real minty-blue highlighted hair (a close relative to this look, one might say) from "Stay" coming in at a close second. This bright, less-conventional shade really commands your attention, and we haven't stopped thinking about it ever since our first watch.
4. Selena's retro pin-up getup
Selena killed the retro vibe all throughout the music video. Starting with her striped sailor-inspired outfit and high ponytail-vizor situation and finishing off with extra fluttery lashes, thick black liner, bold red lip, and a silk printed headscarf, she came here to serve looks. Despite having different beauty themes, both Selena's and Blackpink's looks pair nicely together and lean into the flirtatious, summery lyrics.
5. Lisa's pink jelly, 3D nails (and an assortment of eye stickers)
The girls wore gloves during much of the video (whether because of the temperature of the ice cream or the pandemic, it's a good choice), but when they weren't, they were showing off some extravagant nail art, undoubtedly created by Blackpink's go-to nail artist, Park Eunkyung, also known as Unistella. We didn't get a full-hand shot of these cute-as-heck jelly nails accented with 3D flowers, but we're adding it to our beauty inspiration folder anyway — along with Jennie's blue-sky nails that close out the music video.
Lisa's eye stickers may deserve their own standalone shoutout, but we'll just appreciate their beauty here. The shots are extremely fast and blurry but we can still make out butterfly, heart, and star stickers. Whatever they are, they're stunning against her black liner and hair.
6. Jisoo's romantic pink makeup and soft waves
Jisoo knows how to elevate classic styles and this look continues to prove just that. We love that she brought back the all-around pink eye makeup from "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du," but instead of a dramatic and pink bob-styled wig, she opted for loose, flowy waves and a matching soft pink lip for a super-romantic feel.
7. Rosé's butterfly-clip-adorned braid
These days celebrities love adding butterfly clips to their hair for a proper '90s throwback, and now Blackpink's Rosé joins their ranks. We don't get a great close-up shot of her hair in the music video, but this image of Rosé wearing the pink, purple, and yellow clips in a classic braid offers a big dose of nostalgia. They provide just the right amount of pizzazz for her lavender-tinted hair.
8. Lisa's glittery lips
The shimmery eyeshadow and extra-defined lashes are already a whole mood, but the star of this all-encompassing "boss" ensemble is Lisa's glitter-infused pink lips. Recreate this look with a few swipes of Huda Beauty's Power Bullet Metallic Lipstick in Cake Day and stunt for the camera.
You can watch the "Ice Cream" music video and decide for yourself what your favorite looks are, because boy, there are a lot to choose from and admire.
