Suspect breaks into sheriff's office, brings donuts as a 'peace offering'

A 26-year-old male, who said he would rather go to jail for breaking into the sheriff's office than "kill his roommate," brought donuts so police wouldn't be mad with him.

The King County Sheriff's Office in Fairwood, Wash., shared on their Facebook page the odd break-in story that occurred last week.

According to the post, just after midnight, the male suspect broke into the sheriff's office by shattering the front window. Instead of stealing anything, he remained in a back room, where deputies typically complete their paperwork, with his feet up on a chair and watched TV. He also finished a cigar.

The responding deputy asked the suspect if he was the person who broke the window to the office's storefront. He answered with a casual, "Yep." The suspect then explained his current roommate situation.

With incredible forethought, the suspect felt that deputies would be mad at him for shattering their window and breaking in, so he brought a "peace offering" — a box of donuts he had bought at a nearby grocery store.

"What cop doesn't love donuts, right?" the sheriff’s office Facebook post read.

The suspect was booked into the King County Jail.

"No word on the fate of the donuts," the post finished.

Many commenters on Facebook tried to find the humor in the unusual situation.

"What kind of psychopath doesn't go with at least one classic glazed doughnut? I'm glad he's in jail," one person shared.

"My mom always taught me to bring a dish of something when visiting," a person said, applauding his manners. "Apparently his mother raised him right."

More, still, wondered just how awful the roommate must have been for the suspect to take such drastic action.

"He really must have the roommate from hell!" one person commented. Another wondered, "if his roommate bailed him out."
