America's Got Talent night one results show recap

The night began with a recap of the 11 performances from Tuesday night and an assessment from judge Simon Cowell on how he sees the finale as shaking out.

“We are nothing without these contestants and for some reason this year, you are seeing some of the most astonishing live performances you have ever seen,” he said. “We’ll see what happens tonight, but I have a feeling we will end up with the most incredible finale.”

Then host Terry Crews got down to business, giving the first result of the night, calling up Aubrey Burchell, Kristen Cruz, and Travis Japan. The act still in the competition was Kristen Cruz.

The second group called up by Terry was Blade 2 Blade, Kristy Sellars and Shu Takada. The act that made the Top 5 was Kristy Sellars.

Next to get their results was Max Ostler and Urbancrew. The act moving forward was Urbancrew.

Then it was time for The Mayyas, Jordan Conley and Mervant Vera to step forward and get their results. Still in the competition was The Mayyas, but there needed to be one more going through to make the Top 5, and Terry revealed that Mervant Vera was also still in the competition.

Following a break, the Top 5 was cut down to the Top 3: The Mayyas, Mervant Vera, and the final act was Kristy Sellars.

“Congratulations to the three of you for making it this far,” said Heidi Klum. “It is so deserved.”

Terry continued with the business of the night, because there was more to take care of than normal as the judges had to make their wildcard designations for the Instant Save.

The first act to make the Top 2 was Sofia Vergara’s Golden Buzzer The Mayyas. The second was Australian pole dancer Kristy Sellars.

Then the judges had to select their choice for the wildcard vote from the acts that didn’t make it through to fill out the Top 11. Simon put forward The NFL Players Choir, Sofia chose Celia Muñoz, Heidi stuck with her Golden Buzzer pick Lily Meola, and Howie picked Don McMillan, and the Instant Save was on!

After some entertainment from the upcoming Broadway musical & Juliet, Terry revealed the results of the Instant Save. The winner of the Instant Save was Celia Muñoz.

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
