James Gunn’s big Superman reboot has nailed down its Lex Luthor, according to a new report.
Nicholas Hoult is all set to play the iconic villain in Superman: Legacy, says a report by Deadline. He’ll be joining David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Maria Gabriela de Faria in the role of The Engineer.
Hoult has starred in three X-Men movies, apocalyptic adventure Mad Max: Fury Road and more recently the dark horror The Menu.
Superman: Legacy begins filming in March 2024 with its eye on a release date of June 11, 2025. Other actors in the movie include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion in the role of Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabella Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mr Terrific.
Director James Gunn’s plan is for all of these actors to remain in the roles across related movies, TV shows and animated series’ as he progresses with his complete reboot of the DC Universe on film.
First up from this daunting project is the animated series Creature Commandos, starring Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, Indira Varma as Bride of Frankestein, David Harbour as Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus and Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky.
Gunn is also putting his team together for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, with the newly installed writer Ana Nogueira adapting Tom King’s eight-issue run on Supergirl and her cosmic adventure with Krytpo the Superdog.
