Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood Are Married
It was a super weekend for Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood. The Supergirl co-stars, who found love both on- and off- screen, married on September 1.
E! News confirmed the wedding, which took place on a private estate in Ojai, California. The couple said their vows in front of their closest family and friends, including Supergirl co-stars Paul Wesley, Kevin Smith and Odette Annable.
“It was a beautiful setting for a wedding, very peaceful and quiet,” a source told E! of the poolside nuptials. “The vows were brief and lasted about 15 minutes. There was lots of cheering and applause as it ended.”
Benoist and Wood then treated their guests to a romantic outdoor reception. “There were lots of glowing candles and lights strung above,” the insider continued. “The food was served family style and everyone passed the dishes back and forth. It looked like an elegant outdoor dinner party. There was a lot of laughter and happiness.”
The couple’s wedding comes just six months after they announced their engagement in February 2019. Wood proposed to Benoist with an oval-shaped diamond ring set in a halo of smaller diamonds. Benoist took to Instagram to share the news at the time, writing, “Yes yes yes it will always be yes.” In his own post about their engagement, Wood simply wrote, “The happiest.”
Melissa Benoist met her husband on the set of the CW drama series, which premiered in 2015. Their on-screen romance eventually traveled off-screen, and the duo confirmed their relationship while on a PDA-packed vacation in Mexico in 2017.
