From salty-sweet to savory, these crazy concoctions will seriously upgrade your ice cream sundae.
DAN WHALEN: Ice cream fixes everything, we all know that. Putting a bunch of stuff on top of an ice cream sundae is the best way to get you through the day.
I'm going to do one of my favorite combinations, which is salty and sweet, and use my all time favorite foods, potato chips and bacon.
No sundae is complete without a little whipped cream with cherry. Olive oil is a huge ice cream trend right now, I've had olive oil gelato and ice cream at several shops. Without having actual olive oil ice cream, you can just use olive oil and a little balsamic vinegar as the topping for your sundae. Make sure you get the type of balsamic that is a syrup. It's a lot sweeter, and it clings better to the ice cream and it just looks like chocolate sauce already. Just like anything else you put olive oil on, you want to finish with a little bit of sea salt.
Sometimes after a long day a big bowl of ice cream isn't even enough, You have to set something on fire. That's why I made this sundae with chocolate ice cream and burnt marshmallows. Then we use 151 rum to set the marshmallows on fire.
