We’re not proud of it, but it happens to us all — sometimes, you’re just the last to know about a trend. Polyvore reported this week that searches for “summer boots” spiked 35% in the last week alone. Since we work in fashion, and therefore it is our job to know these things, we were at least a little ashamed to admit that we had absolutely no idea what a summer boot is.
Is it a boot festooned with images of beautiful, tropical sunsets? A boot that self-destructs on Labor Day? The monstrosity that is these thigh-high cage boots from Nasty Gal, perhaps?
Turns out, it’s none of these. Polyvore also reports that related search terms spiking this week include “perforated,” “white,” “suede,” and “ankle boots.” So in other words, a summer boot is pretty much anything other than a black leather thigh-high. Even we can get our heads around that.
