Nearly a month after Sullivan's Crossing shocked Canadian fans with a major cliffhanger finale, CTV (where season one has already aired) and The CW (where season one will air in America this fall) have already confirmed that the hit show is getting a second season, which means that fans are in for plenty more drama and scenic views of Nova Scotia.

The big news was confirmed by Deadline, and the show's Instagram fan account wasted no time in sharing the update. Along with a promo pic of cast members Morgan Kohan, Scott Patterson and Chad Michael Murray, the caption read, "Sullivan's Crossing fans, here's the OFFICIAL news we've been waiting for!!! Sullivan's Crossing will be returning for a SEASON 2!!"

Fans couldn't contain their excitement in the comments. One follower responded, "Best news ever!!! This just made my day." Another wrote, "I can’t wait to see what will happen between Cal and Maggie in season 2!"

Based on Robyn Carr's novel series of the same name, the show revolves around Maggie, a skilled neurosurgeon who leaves Boston and moves to her childhood home of Sullivan's Crossing to escape her messy life. But in her efforts to get a fresh start and fix her reputation, Maggie confronts painful memories while dealing with a new romance that just might complicate her life further.

According to Deadline, the series actually made history and became the highest-rated Canadian drama to launch in two years on CTV. But it's no surprise, considering the new drama comes from the masterminds behind Netflix's hit series Virgin River (also inspired by Robyn Carr's books). Both Roma Roth and Christopher E. Perry serve as showrunners and executive producers alongside Mike Cosentino and Hilary Martin. And the show's cast includes Tom Jackson, Andrea Menard, Lynda Boyd and Allan Hawco.

While speaking about the show's first season, Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment at The CW Network said in a statement, “We can’t wait to bring Sullivan’s Crossing to our viewers this fall, and we are so confident that audiences are going to fall in love with it that we have committed early to a second season. As partners for season two, we cannot wait to work alongside this talented cast and excellent creative team to deliver another emotionally captivating season. Audiences can give their hearts to this show knowing that it is coming back for much, much more.”

Sounds like fans are in for plenty more adventures with Maggie, Cal and the rest of the gang.
